Project Scope

The living room for this family was never used for any gatherings due to its uninviting atmosphere.

The clients requested to make this room inviting to guests in order for it to be enjoyed by everyone.

The parents of five growing teenagers wanted to be able to spend time near their children and enjoy a beautiful room that housed a magnificent fireplace surrounded by windows connected by a set of French doors to the family-game room. These French doors connecting to the game room were especially important for the clients who wanted to keep close contact with their growing teenagers. The Family-Game room housed a pool table, game table and TV where the teenagers spent a lot of their free time.

I evaluated the space and transformed this room with a tasteful design, enhancing the architectural features and making it a desirable room for today’s lifestyle.

The fireplace, located in the center of the room, with its intricately and stately carved mantel, was the focal point of the room with several seating areas. I was able to create an inviting atmosphere in which the parents could enjoy movies or news in their trendy pop-up TV credenza, while the teenagers played in the next room.

The room can now accommodate a large crowd with the new comfortable, movable seating area. Now it also includes several ottomans, benches, and swivel chairs and even a lap top table, also used as an end table.

By selecting a warm and neutral wall covering as a background for the room, it complemented the warm red and brown tones, the textures in the fabrics, and transformed this room into a warm and inviting modern family quarter.

The elegant English cotton print window treatments, accented with graceful, soft trims, soften the large space making it even more inviting.

A custom designed area rug, with carefully selected colors, texture, and design, frames the main seating area of the Living room and compliments the fabric used in the furniture and window treatments.

The room also hosts the family’s great piano, making this a truly beautiful and well-designed space. Every aspect of the room works with each other creating a large, but inviting space, perfect for family time, any big family function, or just for a romantic evening alone.
